Bago organization awarded for organic agri practices

The Mailum Organic Village Association (MOVA), based in Bago City, was recognized as the Outstanding Organization Practicing Organic Agriculture while its president, Maria Gina Banowski, won as second place Best Organic Farmer Practitioner, during the 17th Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival Governor’s Night in Bacolod City Nov. 19.

They received their certificates and cash prizes from Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Board Member Rita Gatuslao, and Provincial Agriculturist-OIC, Dr. Dina Genzola, the city said Nov. 20.

City agriculturist-designate Marvin John Blance and organic agriculture focal person Jazmin Joy Bermeo were also present at the awarding ceremony.

Bago’s Slow Food Community, meanwhile, is joining the 2nd Terra Madre Visayas at the Provincial Capitol grounds in Bacolod City until Nov. 23.

“Terra Madre Visayas, the ultimate event for all things food, culture, and sustainability, is in collaboration with the Bacolod City government, provincial government of Negros Occidental, and the Department of Tourism, among other supporters, the organizers said. ||
