The newly-opened Emergency Night Clinic at Barangay Ma-ao Health Station in Bago City, which will cater to emergency patients in Ma-ao and other upland villages, is anchored on Mayor Mayette Javellana-Yao’s Asenso Bago local governance framework.

Javellana-Yao, who led the inauguration Aug. 18, said this “another first project” reflects the city government’s “May Gugma nga Panghimanwa” brand of governance because true progress is not measured by big buildings alone, but by the assurance that every Bagonhon feels protected, valued, and cared for, even during their most difficult moments.

“Tonight, we open not just a clinic, but a promise, a promise that even in the late hours of the night, your city government is here for you,” the mayor said, adding that “through Project Night Care: Emergency Night Clinic at Barangay Ma-ao Health Station, we are making sure that care and compassion are never out of reach.”

Open from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays, the Emergency Night Clinic provides care for emergency cases only.

It caters to patients under Level 1 to Level 4, which refers to resuscitation or immediate, emergency, urgent and semi-urgent cases, respectively, the city said in a press release Aug. 19.

Also, the 12-hour clinic facilitates transfer of urgent cases to the Bago City Hospital.

There will be no birthing at the moment while the outpatient department (OPD) consultations continue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., also during weekdays.

“This is our way of telling every family: Indi kamo magkahadlok kag indi kamo pagbayaan sang inyo syudad bisan ano nga oras,” Javellana-Yao stressed.

She thanked the health workers, led by Dr. Mae Fairlenn Carmel Jocson and Dr. Elijah Blaise Bimbao, and partners who made the project possible.

“This is for you and may this Night Care project be a light of comfort and security for our community,” the mayor told fellow Bagonhons.

Councilor Leonilo del Carmen, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Health, said the initiative represents a significant step towards ensuring the health and wellbeing of the community, especially during night hours when medical assistance is often most needed.

Del Carmen, a doctor by profession, said the dedication and commitment of the people behind the project are truly inspiring.

“This clinic is not just a facility, this is a testament to our community resilience and our collective efforts to improve access to healthcare including minimizing the cost and expenses,” he added.

Also present at the inauguration were councilors Robert Javellana, Ma. Femmy Alvarez-Martir, Jorge Araneta, and Imelda Precion, City Health Officer Dr. Ferdinand Ramon Mayoga, nurse supervisor Ceander Rosquillo, USLS College of Medicine team led by Dr. Pilar Mabasa, former councilor Jobert Tagobader, and some barangay officials, among others. ||
