Bago City Vice Mayor Ramon Torres led the ceremonial turnover and distribution of school bags and supplies recently for 3,414 students from eight schools under District III of the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Bago.
The recipients are part of the total 22,031 public school learners in the city, from kindergarten to Grade 6, who will receive the free school bags and other supplies from the city government.
Now on its third year, the city government, under the administration of Mayor Nicholas Yulo and Vice Mayor Torres, procured P7 million worth of school supplies, including bags, notebooks, pad paper, ballpens, pencils, sharpeners, and pencil cases, depending on the grade level.
Torres, in his message, underscored the importance of education thus, he urged the students to do well in their studies.
The vice mayor also urged the parents and teachers to continue upholding good values among the students, as the city assured continued support to the education sector.
The latest distribution, held at Bagroy Elementary School in Barangay Bagroy Aug. 22, was part of the LGU Bago Advocacy and Info Caravan, dubbed “Kamustahan sa Eskwelahan 2024”.
It was attended by councilors Ma. Josefa Matti, Jake Patrick Torres, Victor Michael Javellana, Carlos Mondia, Ma. Femmy Alvarez-Martir, and Joseph Colmenares, Negros Occidental Fourth District Board Member Andrew Martin Torres, Paula Alonso, representing Board Member Jose Benito Alonso, District III supervisor Lira Torres, school principals, teachers, PTA officers, parents, and students, among others. ||
