Bacolodnon taekwondo jin bags gold in Batang Pinoy

Dondy Santillan Jr. of Glendale Homes in Barangay Granada, Bacolod, and a Grade 7 student of Living Stones International School, won the gold medal in the Cadet Division of Taekwondo at the Batang Pinoy in Puerto Princesa, Palawan from Nov. 23-28.

Santillan, son of Jacqueline and Dondy Sr., is part of the Bacolod City delegation, headed by Jean Pierre Sabido, and coaches Windell Billones and Crystal Pauline Sabido.

The young taekwondo athlete defeated competitors in five grueling matches, with the finals match turning out to be as close as it gets until the last minute when Santillan was able to connect a series of kicks in the head that widened his lead.

His dedication and passion to master the sport of taekwondo are worthy of emulation and a testament that Bacolodnons are destined for sports greatness in national and international stages, a press release said.

Santillan also captured the gold medal in the Palarong Pambansa held earlier this year. ||
