Three more funeral homes will partner with the Bacolod City government on its funeral assistance for indigent Bacolodnons, at a package of P10,000 each beneficiary.
The Villacrusis Funeral Services, Eastern Hills Funeral Services, and R&S Funeral Homes will enter into a memorandum of agreement with the City Mayor’s Office on “customized and enhanced funeral services” for poor residents.
Last month, the Abe Funeral Homes Inc., Funeraria Del Lourdes Inc., The Chapel of the Chimes Gegato Abecia Funeral Homes Inc., and Purple Haven Funeral Homes also each entered into similar agreement with Mayor Alfredo Benitez.
The P10,000 package include retrieval of the deceased from the hospital, home and crime scene within Bacolod; seven days embalming; a casket, and transport of the deceased to the interment location, including provision of tarpaulin, carpet, curtain, chandeliers, candle stand, casket stand, guest book with stand, and flowers.
The city government “shall issue a guarantee letter for each recipient as payment for the funeral company for the funeral services rendered upon proper verification and assessment by authorized liaison personnel,” the MOA said.
To facilitate ease in the collection of payment from the City by the partner funeral home, the latter should submit a funeral bill detailing the charges and expenses incurred, certificate of indigency of the deceased, and case abstract from the Department of Social Services and Development. | CGC
