The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod has granted Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez the authority to sign a consultancy agreement between the city government and Cristine Mansinares as special adviser on tourism affairs.
The city will engage the services of Mansinares until Dec. 31, 2023.
A native of Sagay City, Mansinares was the division chief, then regional director, of the Department of Tourism in Western Visayas, from 2020 to 2022, supervising tourism operations officer of Negros Occidental in 2011, and used to be the city tourism officer of Sipalay City.
Benitez, who named her as special adviser way back in March this year, said in reports that “the challenges of rehabilitation and recovery of the city’s tourism industry are a big and complex undertaking that would require advice and assistance from persons with vast experience and knowledge on tourism”.
Mansinares’ extensive experiences and familiarity in the tourism industry will be a big assistance for the highly-urbanized city to strengthen its tourism programs and projects, the mayor added.
Bacolod, meanwhile, is set to hold the Chicken Inasal Festival on May 26 to 28, with Manokan County, North Capitol Road, and The Upper East as event venues.
Among its highlight events are the longest chicken inasal grilling station, to be held at The Upper East on May 28, and the first-ever Chicken Inasal Vlog contest, the city said Tuesday.
“Capture the most unforgettable and mouth-watering moments of the celebrated grilled dish from Bacolod while showcasing your remarkable and brilliant skills in creating noteworthy video content, and get a chance to win P30,000 worth of gift certificates from SM City Bacolod,” the city PIO said of the vlog competition.
Participants must submit their video entry on or before the submission deadline at 11:59 p.m. of May 22.
Judging will be based on creativity, entertainment value, and overall presentation.
The top three winners will be announced during the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival awards and recognition at SM City Bacolod on May 27./CGC
