Fire incidents in the highly-urbanized Bacolod City have significantly dropped to only 42 from January to March this year compared to 109 in the same period in 2024.
The Bureau of Fire Protection attributed the 160 percent reduction to the intensified fire safety awareness campaign in areas considered as fire hazard zones, and to frequent rains.
Fire damage this year was estimated at P1.685 million, with three injured victims, compared to P22.852 million damage, with nine injured victims, in the same period last year. | GB
