The Bacolod City Legal Office (CLO) Enforcement Team is appealing for full cooperation from vendors at the Libertad Public Market as authorities once again cleared the area for thorough flushing and sanitation operations.
CLO Enforcement Team leader Levi Pangue said Sept. 17 that the team returned to the market about 15 times already to conduct clearing operations, noting that the market supervisor has been requesting for it every week and every month.
“We cleared them but they just returned right after the operation, requiring another schedule. This cycle just goes on without the cooperation of the people from Libertad Market. They should just cooperate so their selling can continue every day. The maintenance workers can no longer clean their areas because they place their merchandise there. We are really appealing for their cooperation,” Pangue said.
He noted that the obstruction has severely hampered the daily flushing operations of the Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office personnel and market in-charge.
Vendors have reportedly extended their stalls beyond their designated blocks, obstructing pedestrian pathways and even converting vacant spaces into temporary stockrooms.
Pangue emphasized that without consistent clearing and regulation, maintaining cleanliness and proper order inside the market would be impossible.
