Dengue cases in Bacolod City have dropped by 47.6 percent, compared to the same period last year, the City Health Office (CHO) said.
Health records show that Bacolod logged a total of 389 dengue cases, and one fatality, as of Aug. 15.
Dr. Grace Tan of the CHO said the lone fatality was an 8-year-old girl from Brgy. Villamonte.
The latest data marked a significant decline, from the 743 cases and five deaths reported during the same period in 2025.
The city logged 37 cases during Morbidity Week 29 (July 19 to 25), 30 cases for Morbidity Week 30 (July 26 to Aug. 1), 39 cases in Morbidity Week 31 (Aug. 2 to 8, and 24 cases in Morbidity Week 32 (Aug. 9 to 15), with zero new fatalities recorded throughout those four consecutive weeks.
“But, of course, we cannot be assured that the figures will remain lower if we will not join efforts in eradicating the breeding places of mosquitoes, because, as we know, they can breed, as long as there is collected water,” Tan said.
Among the city’s barangays, Mansilingan reported the highest number of cumulative cases at 47, followed by Handumanan with 37, Estefania with 34, Singcang-Airport with 28, and Banago with 26.
Other affected areas include Alijis and Villamonte with 23 cases each, and Tangub with 19 cases. | TMD
