The decomposing body of a man, later identified as an intelligence operative of the Philippine Army, was found inside a vehicle at Gate 1 of BREDCO Port in Brgy. 12, Bacolod City, yesterday.

He was identified by the police as Jimmy Peña, a native of Capiz, and assigned at a military outpost inside the Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.

P/Col. Joseph Martir, officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office, yesterday said that their initial investigations showed there was no foul play in the death of Peña, whose valuables and personal belongings, as well as his Glock 9mm pistol, were found in his car.

But Martir said the cadaver will be subjected to an autopsy, to determine the cause of his death.

Police probers said no injuries were noted on the body of the soldier, or any indication that he was robbed.

The white Toyota Innova vehicle of Pena was reportedly parked in the area since Monday. — GB
