A 73-year-old American national was shot dead after three unidentified armed men forcibly broke into his home in Purok 3, Barangay Ajong, Sibulan, Negros Oriental, Sunday night, July 12.

The victim, whom authorities said was a former educator, died on the spot due to a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim’s 34-year-old Filipina wife said they were watching television in their living room when three men forced their way inside.

One of the intruders, who was armed with a handgun, approached and shot the foreigner.

The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) already ordered an intensified, province-wide follow-up operation to track down and identify the perpetrators.

“Authorities are currently pursuing all available leads to identify and apprehend the suspects,” the NOrPPO said in a press release.

The police is urging anyone who may have witnessed unusual activity in the vicinity of Barangay Ajong late Sunday evening, or who has any information that could help crack the case, to contact the Sibulan Municipal Police Station, or the nearest police station. | TMD
