The Bacolod Emergency Operations Center lauded the officials of Barangay Alangilan and the administration of the Alangilan High School for ensuring proper protocols in the gradual implementation of the limited face to face classes that started Dec. 6.
EOC deputy director for Medical Analysis, Dr. Chris Sorongon, said they were impressed by the very well prepared implementation of the pilot in-person classes, from the movement of students to the retrofitted learning center and other facilities.
Sorongon added that the school has identified red and green zones for the students to take note of. They were also given snacks to prevent unnecessary movement during break time so the students can directly go home after their class.
The EOC saw the need of giving vitamins and face masks to the students to sustain the proper observance of health protocols every day.
The EOC also supports any plan of expanding the in-person classes to other schools in Barangay Alangilan.
The Alangilan and Arceo elementary schools are being eyed for the purpose, and this can be made possible next year if everything is done the proper way, Sorongon said.
“Barangay Alangilan has zero COVID case and the vaccination percentage is also high. The location of the school is in the rural area, with no dense population,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sorongon noted the influx of people at the Bacolod Government Center premises at night, adding this is a symbol of gradual normalcy with all types of businesses picking up.
The gathering of people means that Bacolodnons want to have a merrier holiday season, but Sorongon said the strict observance of health protocols should still be complied with.
He said city casuals are assigned every night to remind people on the proper wearing of face mask, and observance of physical distancing, particularly when they are eating while roaming the premises of BGC.
Bacolodnons should cooperate to avoid any drastic action from the city government, like stricter rules for gatherings in front of the BGC, he added. –MML
