The PDP-Laban Cusi wing postponed the scheduled provincial meeting in Bacolod City on Sept. 24 due to COVID.
PDP-Laban Negros convenor, Atty. John Orola, said the committees of the party decided to move the gathering, tentatively on Sept. 27, and it will still be decided if the meeting will be face to face or online.
It was reported earlier that a participant in the private gathering of the Reporma Party and an attendee in the assembly of the members of Love Negros tested positive for COVID. Their close contacts were asked to isolate themselves for a couple of days.
Orola said that participants from the towns and cities outside Bacolod are apprehensive of travelling to the city due to the high incidence of COVID.
Those who wish to run in next year’s elections and want to belong to their party can still submit their applications through the Facebook page of the PDP-Laban Cusi Negros Occidental Chapter, he added.
Those who will be accepted as members of the party will be issued Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance. The CONA is one of the requirements in the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy from October 1-8.
Orola added he is expecting less than 50 participants and they can select their candidates in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City during the gathering.
He said expected participants from Bacolod City are Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, and councilors Archie Baribar and Bart Orola, while those coming from the towns and cities of Negros are candidates for vice mayor and councilor. – MML
