The City of Sipalay in Negros Occidental encouraged its residents to register in the QVID digital mobile application suite for easier and faster contact tracing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
QVID stands for Quick Response to Various Infectious Diseases.
As of Feb. 9, a total of 1,245 males and 1,693 females have already registered in the QVID Sipalay app.
“The local government unit is asking for the cooperation of all the Sipalaynons to be part of this initiative and help keep ourselves, family, and friends safe,” it said in a Facebook post.
QVID Sipalay is a tool that will help all city residents monitor each other’s safety in the fight against Covid-19, the LGU added.
Last month, a Quick Response scanning machine has been set up in the entry and exit points of the Sipalay City New Government Center to scan the QR codes of guests with the QVID Sipalay app.
There are two ways to register. First, by downloading the barrio.citizen mobile app on Android phone and second, by registering with the community development personnel assigned in their village for those who do not have an Android smartphone and without access to mobile internet.
On Monday, the Technical Working Group of QVID Sipalay held an orientation among the village and youth council officials, barangay health workers, and sub-village presidents of Barangay Cartagena.
The participants were oriented on the registration, person-to-person scanning, and how they can assist others in the barangay in the use of the contract tracing app.
On the last week of January, the TWG also gave a briefing about the contact tracer tool to school heads, teachers, and parents from different schools in Barangays Manlucahoc and Camindangan.
Earlier, the TWG also held a meeting with owners and representatives of different business establishments and beach resorts on the launch of QVID Sipalay.
The participants received their respective log-in QR codes to be separately used for business establishments and to be used for the scanning of the QR codes of guests and customers.
Through QVID Sipalay, establishment and resort owners can control and monitor guests and clients that come in and out of their areas. – NLG
