Some 92 families from barangays Zone 8 and Dos Hermanas will receive financial assistance from the Talisay City government.
The cash aid will be sourced by the LGU from the P1-million donation recently given by the Bacolod City government.
The recipients, about 285 individuals, were among those affected by the floods in the Third District, especially the most recent one on Feb. 8.
Dionela Madrona, head of the City Social Welfare Development Office, said 30 families from Barangay Zone 8 temporarily evacuated to Tayabas Elementary School as preventive measure after the swelling of water level from the nearby Minuluan River.
The rising waters entered some houses along the water ways.
Heavy to moderate rains began Sunday evening, Feb. 7 , until early morning due to the low pressure area that coincided with the high tide.
Also, 62 families were affected in Barangay Dos Hermanas. They were temporarily brought to the nearest evacuation center, Madrona said.
The CSWDO sent family food packs to the affected residents aside from the immediate food assistance at the evacuation center.
Madrona said after three hours, the water level subsided and the affected families started to return to their homes.
