The police has launched an operation for the arrest of a man who allegedly killed his own wife in Barangay YaoYao, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday.
The suspect identified by the Cauayan police as Eduardo Mendiona, 58, fled after killing his wife, Priscilla, 50, following a heated argument.
Investigation of the Cauayan police showed that the suspect slit the throat of his wife, using a knife.
Despite her injuries, the victim managed to seek help from her neighbors, who brought her to the Cauayan District Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The Cauayan Municipal Police Station sought the help of the 15th Infantry Battalion for the arrest of the suspect, who may be held liable for the crime of parricide.
There have been arguments between the couple because of the unfinished construction of their residence, despite the money sent by the victim to her husband when she was working in Manila.
Staff Sgt. Cyrus Maquiling, assistant investigator of Cauayan police, said that the incident was witnessed by the two minor children of the couple. – GB
