The 49.8-kilometer Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway (BANOCEH), from Bacolod City to Victorias City, is expected to be completed by 2022, said Engr. Jaime Javellana, head of the Negros Occidental First Engineering District.
The BANOCEH infrastructure project, which has a budget of P7.9 billion, is being implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways under the “Build, Build, Build” program of the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Javellana said that the project will help lessen traffic volume in coastal road, as BANOCEH will serve as an alternative route from southern to northern Negros, or vice versa.
The new highway will cater to big trucks and can be an option to motorists who want to experience less traffic.
BANOCEH also passes through the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road going to E.B. Magalona and Victorias City.
The construction of BANOCEH is expected to reduce travel time from southern and northern Negros going to Bacolod-Silay Airport Road to only about 25 and 40 minutes, respectively, providing comfort and ease for travelers. – GB
