A 43-year-old motorcyclist died, while his passenger was injured, after their motorcycle crashed at the national road in Hacienda Gaston, Barangay Punta Mesa, Manapla, Negros Occidental, Sept. 18.
Police said the fatality, alias “Jessie”, was a resident of Barangay Tortosa, while his 40-year-old back rider, alias “Marco”, sustained injuries and was transferred to Saint Anne Hospital in Cadiz City.
An investigation by the Manapla Municipal Police Station revealed that the black Rusi motorcycle was “traveling at excessive speed”, from Victorias City towards Manapla when the driver lost control at a curved section of the road.
The motorcycle overshot and slammed into a concrete post of the roadside steel barrier, throwing both victims off the vehicle and causing the motorcycle to tumble approximately 40 meters from the point of impact.
Emergency responders from the MDRRMO brought both victims to the Manapla Rural Health Office, where the driver was declared dead on arrival by an attending physician, while the impounded motorcycle was turned over to the police station. | TMD
