The Negros Occidental provincial government has generated P73.352 million in Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) shares from the province’s three dialysis centers, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said on Thursday, Sept. 17.
He added that instead of treating the amount solely as hospital income, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson directed that the PhilHealth shares be used as financial assistance for Negrenses seeking treatment in provincial hospitals.
The initiative supports the provincial government’s goal of providing free medical treatments and procedures to patients in its hospitals by maximizing available PhilHealth shares as assistance for their healthcare expenses.
Diaz acknowledged that the dialysis centers have also helped bring kidney treatment closer to residents who require regular dialysis, reducing the need for patients to travel farther for the service.
The program forms part of the provincial government’s continuing efforts to assist Negrenses undergoing dialysis while working with PhilHealth to cover the cost of treatment.
The provincial government also recognized the doctors, nurses, and other hospital personnel who keep the dialysis facilities operating as well as the contributions of the ZRL Group Inc.
It likewise thanked PhilHealth for its support in sustaining dialysis services in provincial hospitals. | GPB
