Bacolod recorded an economic growth rate of 6.8 percent, ranking third among the country’s 33 highly-urbanized cities (HUCs), based on the 2025 Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) report released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) recently.

The 6.8 percent growth places Bacolod’s economic performance above average figures across the Visayas region and the national level, the PSA said.

General Santos City led the nationwide rankings with an 8.0 percent growth rate, followed by Cagayan de Oro City at 7.4 percent.

The new ranking marks an upward shift from Bacolod’s 6th place standing in 2024.

Mayor Greg Gasataya said Aug. 29 that the city achieved this economic expansion despite global and regional challenges, such as the ongoing oil crisis expected to impact overall growth trends.

“We continue our work to maintain this momentum and ensure that this translates to more employment and business opportunities for Bacolodnons,” he added. | TMD
