The city government, through the Bacolod Tourism Development Office (BTDO), is hosting the Bacolod MICE Summit today, Aug. 25, at Roy’s Hotel and Convention Center, with around 250 participants from the tourism, hospitality, events, transportation, business, and government sectors.
Themed “Building Connections, Creating Opportunities: Strengthening Bacolod’s MICE Future”, the summit aims to strengthen collaboration among industry stakeholders and further position Bacolod as a competitive destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE).
The summit will feature industry discussions, led by Natalie Lim, chairperson of the Iloilo MICE Alliance; Louella Caridad, general manager of Mactan Expo, Megaworld Corporation; and Department of Tourism-Negros Island Region director Crisanta Marlene Rodriguez, who will share insights and strategies on MICE development and destination competitiveness.
A major highlight of the summit will be the presentation and adoption of the Bacolod MICE Alliance framework, followed by the formation and adoption of its officers/Board of Directors.
The alliance is envisioned to strengthen public-private collaboration, and provide a unified platform for Bacolod’s MICE stakeholders to develop programs, partnerships, and strategies for the industry, the BTDO said.
The summit is organized and facilitated by the BTDO, led by chief tourism operations officer Ma. Teresa Manalili, together with supervising tourism operations officer Meneil Lopez-Poquiz, senior tourism operations officer Liana Reynes, tourism operations officer Darlwin Sales, and other tourism staff.
The event will also feature a fireside chat, stakeholder networking and business matching, an oath-taking ceremony with Mayor Greg Gasataya, and the signing of a commitment wall symbolizing the stakeholders’ shared commitment to building Bacolod as a leading MICE destination.
Through the Bacolod MICE Summit 2026, the city government continues to strengthen partnerships between the public and private sectors, create new opportunities for tourism and business, and advance Bacolod’s position as an emerging and competitive MICE destination. ||
