The Negros Occidental provincial government-owned Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Murcia is gearing up for a major upgrade with the launch of its high-end accommodations and eco-attractions in the first week of September 2026.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said Thursday, Aug. 20 that the inauguration and blessing will take place upon the return of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson from his leave.

The centerpiece of the expansion is the Lake View Villas designed to elevate the guest experience at the popular destination in Barangay Minoyan.

The Lake View Villas at Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental will be ready for occupancy starting early next month.

The three exclusive units can accommodate up to five persons each. Each unit features its own hot (onsen) and cold dipping pools using geothermally-heated water, outdoor showers and toilets, and a private bonfire area.

The villa cluster also includes a bar and a butler’s station, a yoga platform, and dedicated parking spaces, making it ideal for family getaways, wedding parties, corporate retreats, and group gatherings.

A newly constructed trail leading to the resort’s first waterfall is also targeted for inauguration in September.

Diaz said the relocation of the endemic Visayan spotted deer has been rescheduled to Aug. 29, adding a fresh wildlife attraction for visitors.

The rates for the Lake View Villas have already been officially approved through a provincial ordinance.

Diaz reported a high volume of early inquiries and booking requests from travelers. | GPB
