A public school teacher facing qualified rape charges was arrested on Aug. 5 in Sagay City, Negros Occidental as authorities intensified the campaign against wanted persons in the Negros Island Region.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) identified the suspect only by the alias “Em,” 44, a public school teacher.
He was listed as the sixth most wanted person at the regional level.
The teacher, who is charged for two counts of qualified rape of a minor, was denied bail by the court, the police said.
Investigation showed that the suspect, who had had been serving as a Special Education (SPED) teacher and sports coordinator, allegedly sexually abused a minor student during an in-house training held in preparation for the Palaro games for SPED students.
Meanwhile, another man facing qualified rape charges was arrested by the police tracking team in Barangay Andulauan, Ilog on Aug. 3.
The wanted person, alias “Jomeng,” 25, ranked number two in the most wanted list of PRO-NIR.
The police said the victim alleged that she was sexually abused by the suspect since she was six years old. | GPB
