Cabinet Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. and Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson will lead on Friday, July 31, the distribution of P120.2 million in financial assistance under the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang: Presidential Assistance Socio-Civic Projects Fund at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
Each of the 601 barangays in Negros Occidental will receive P200,000.
Under the assistance package, P100,000 will be allocated for priority infrastructure and development projects while the remaining P100,000 will be earmarked for educational assistance through the Bagong Pilipinas Barangay Scholars Program.
Joining Abalos and Lacson are Assistant Secretary Rea Uy Epistola, Sixth District Board Member Genaro Alvarez IV, and Board Member Julius Sablan, who represents the Association of Barangay Captains in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), which issued the implementing guidelines for Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program (BBMP), said it will strengthen grassroots governance, support deserving college students, and help address priority development needs in more than 42,000 barangays across the country.
The BBMP seeks to empower local government units, reinforce effective barangay governance, and expand opportunities for young Filipinos to complete their education while enabling communities to respond to their immediate development priorities. | GPB
