Bureau of Fire Protection-Bacolod personnel rescued a distressed man, who attempted to jump off Gonzaga Bridge in Barangay 28, Bacolod July 27.
The BFP said July 28 that city fire marshal, F/Supt. Jenny Mae Masip, was passing by the area en route to the Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal when a bystander alerted her to the situation.
Masip immediately engaged the man in conversation to de-escalate the situation and kept the individual distracted, while Fire Officer 1 Yves Demontaño and a nearby citizen moved in from both sides to grab and restrain him.
After a brief struggle, responding personnel from the Lopez Jaena Fire Substation safely pulled the man from the bridge’s ledge.
The man was then turned over to Police Station 6, where he received medical evaluation and assistance before being safely reunited with his family. | TMD
