The Bacolod City government kicked off the celebration of the 52nd National Nutrition Month July 10, and launched the “Kadiwa sa Bagong Pilipinas” market at the atrium of the Bacolod City Government Center.

Secretary to the mayor, Atty. Jose Marty Go, said Kadiwa is a program of the national government that is aimed at strengthening the direct link between local consumers and food producers.

The vegetables, fruits, and other goods are sold directly to consumers and no longer pass through the market or anywhere else where fees are required.

“The purpose of this is so that they themselves can earn a larger profit from what they produced,” Go said.

Acting city agriculturist Maricar Quiro said the weekly market features around 15 farmers’ and fisherfolk organizations from various barangays Bacolod.

It will be held every Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the BCGC atrium. | TMD
