Bacolod karatekas rule PASKA E-Tournament

Another set of 10 gold medals were added to the collection of the Bacolod Karate Fighting System after its young karatekas dominated the recent 17th PASKA Founding Anniversary E-Tournament.

          In addition to the 10 gold medals, the Bacolod-based karate club won three silver medals to land on the top spot of the tally and capture the overall championship.

          The medal haul for the Bacolod karatekas, mentored by Sensei Randy Mengullo and Sensei Elan Delfin, was led by its team leader Nichole Margarette Piamonte, who reigned in the 15Under girls advance kata.

          Piamonte, a student of University of St. La Salle, is a brown belter and an outstanding high school athlete in karate of the 2019 NOPSSCEA.

          Joining her in the gold medal column of the PASKA E-Tournament were Chahatjot Singh, Carlo Barias, Francis Zohann Kalaw, Kirc Gabriel Samulde and Gene Agsam.

          Sing, a student of Jack & Jill School, won two gold medals in boys 9Under intermediate and open kata, while Barias, an outstanding karateka from E.L. Jayme Elementary School in Bacolod City, was also a double-gold medalist in 12Under advance and open kata.

Another gold medal for the team came from Francis Zohann Kalaw of Bacolod Tay Tung High School, who topped the boys 9Under novice kata.

Two more gold medals were won by Kirc Gabriel Samulde, from USLS-1S, in boys 17Under novice kata and Gene Agsam, of Jack & Jill School, in 9Under novice kata, while Gurjot Grewal (USLS-IS) settled for silver in 9Under novice kata

          Sharing the limelight with their teammates are the Bacolod KFS girls’ team as Akysha Glenne Servano of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod bagged the gold in 12Under novice kata and Denisse Martina Atesora of St. Joseph School – La Salle in 12Under intermediate kata.

          Two silver medals were added to the team’s collection courtesy of  Paulaine Miyu Kalaw (BTTHS) in 12Under advance and open kata.

          Other best performing teams during the E-Tournament were SSKI JKS UB of Tagbilaran City, Bohol, PASKA – Angeles City, NNK – Negros, ISKF RDL – Cainta, Rizal, La Salle Greenhills, Shishi Dojo AND ISKF Jissen Shotokan from the National Capital Region. – NAB
