1,250 senior citizens in Victorias get second quarter social pension

Each of the 1,250 indigent senior citizens in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, received P3,000 covering the April to June social pension, under the Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens.

The payout, held at the Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Arts and Cultural Center June 24, aims to help eligible senior citizens meet their daily needs and support their overall well-being, the city said.

The distribution forms part of the government’s continuing commitment to provide financial assistance and social protection to indigent senior citizens in the community, it added.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region, in partnership with the local government of Victorias, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office, led in the distribution that was attended by CSWDO head Joy Reunir, social welfare officer I Ricky Lapidante Jr., DSWD-NIR representative Charina Bacurnay, social welfare aide and program implementer Jasteen Cauntod, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs head Erlinda Sarito, FSCAP barangay presidents, and CSWDO personnel.

The city, through the Overseas Filipino Workers Office, also conducted the Migrants Day 2026: Responsive OFW Services Summit and Family Empowerment Program June 25.

The activity brought together overseas Filipino workers and their families, who availed of direct access to government programs, financial services, and social support through a one-stop service summit.

The initiative aims to empower OFWs and their families by improving access to employment assistance, financial literacy, and welfare programs, the city said. ||
