Fire hits 29 houses, 45 families displaced

A fire hit an informal settlers’ area at Purok Lampirong in Barangay 2, Bacolod City, destroying 20 houses and damaging nine others on Thursday, March 5.

The fire has displaced 45 families, composed of 90 individuals, according to the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP).

Initial investigation showed the fire started at the house of Rosalie Alburoto. However, the origin of fire is still being established.

Damage on the burned structures, which were made of light materials, was estimated at P296,000.

The displaced families are now staying at the covered court of Barangay 2, where their basic needs are being attended to by the city’s Department of Social Services and Development.

Last week, a total of 204 families, composed of 849 individuals, were also affected by the fire in Barangay 39, Bacolod City.
