The House committee on civil service and professional regulation has approved the bill proposing the establishment of a Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) satellite office in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Sixth District Rep. Mercedes Alvarez, who authored House Bill 2033, said that once established, it will mitigate expenses for professionals and aspiring professionals as they no longer have to travel to the satellite offices, either in Bacolod, Dumaguete or even Iloilo.

“Its creation will ensure that PRC clients are served daily, without interruption and, ultimately, that government service is closer to the Filipino people,” she added.

Alvarez noted that there are limited slots per day being allocated in every PRC satellite office.

Pending the passage of House Bill 2033 into law, both Alvarez and Fifth District Rep. Emilio Bernardino Yulo III regularly initiate PRC caravans to their respective districts.

Alvarez said the PRC requested that its satellite office will be located at the Central Philippines State University campus in Barangay Camingawan, Kabankalan City.

During the PRC caravan in the cities of Kabankalan and Sipalay from Feb. 23 to 25, a total of 2,051 professionals were served and 2,187 documents were processed. | GB
