Love for service and belief in the power of young people took center stage Feb. 22, as Diwata sang Kali 2025 Jamaicah Bantigue officially implemented her youth advocacy campaign, titled “You Matter: Empowering Young Salvadorian Leaders”.
The initiative gathered youth leaders and talented young individuals from various barangays of Don Salvador Benedicto in a meaningful event focused on nurturing dreams, strengthening aspirations, and cultivating leadership among the next generation.
For Bantigue, the advocacy is deeply personal.
“‘You’ Matter was born from a simple belief — that every young person carries leadership within them. Sometimes, they only need a space to be seen, heard, and empowered,” Bantigue said.
The program highlighted youth participation through leadership discussions, talent showcases, and collaborative activities designed to build confidence and purpose among young Salvadorians.
Long before launching “You Matter”, Bantigue’s journey had already been anchored in community service. From environmental conservation initiatives and tree-planting activities, to outreach programs and Christmas gift-giving efforts, she consistently demonstrated that leadership begins with compassion and action.
“Every tree planted, every community visited, and every child who received a simple Christmas gift reminded me that service must continue beyond titles and crowns,” she shared.
It was from these meaningful experiences that “You Matter” evolved — not just as a one-day event, but as a continuing movement.
“This is more than an event. This is the continuation of a lifelong commitment to serve,” Bantigue stressed.
Municipal Mayor Nehemiah Joe Dela Cruz expressed his full support for the initiative, recognizing the vast potential of the youth sector in Don Salvador Benedicto.
He emphasized that empowering the youth today ensures a stronger and more progressive municipality in the years to come.
Bantigue extended her gratitude to the municipal government for trusting her vision and for creating a safe and supportive environment where young leaders can thrive.
She also acknowledged the vital role of partner-organizations, including PowerHouse School of Talents, for transforming passion into purposeful action, and JCI Bacolod Inc., for continuously championing servant leadership and inspiring integrity-driven youth leadership.
“Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow — they are the leaders of today,” Bantigue emphasized.
As she continues her journey as Diwata sang Kali, Bantigue revealed that one of her deepest intentions has always been to build something that would outlive her reign. “For me, leadership is never about holding a crown. It is about building a legacy.” ||
