The One Negros Ecumenical Council (ONE-C) and other groups will join the simultaneous mobilization nationwide for the 40th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution tomorrow, Feb. 25.

In Bacolod, the Edsa 40 mobilization will kick off with a concelebrated mass at 12:30 p.m. in front of the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol, with Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon as main celebrant, the ONE-C said Feb. 23.

The pilgrimage-march to the Bacolod public plaza will start at 1:30 p.m., to be followed by a rally at 2:30 p.m. at the plaza replica.

Aside from ONE-C, other groups attending the rally are the Taumbayan Ayaw sa Magnanakaw at Abusado Network Alliance, and the Clergy for Good Governance.

At the press conference Feb. 23 at the Negros Press Club, the convenors said Edsa 40 rallies will also be conducted in Kabankalan and San Carlos in Negros Occidental, and in Dumaguete in Negros Oriental.

“The mobilization in Negros is part of the Edsa 40 nationally-coordinated mobilization called by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, church leaders, and civil society organizations,” the ONE-C said.

CBCP president, Archbishop Gilbert Garcera, earlier urged Filipinos to confront modern challenges with the same courage, responsibility, and moral conviction that shaped the People Power Revolution in 1986.

“The greatest danger today is not only historical distortion, but moral fatigue,” Garcera stressed in a statement, urging citizens to actively safeguard freedom and truth.

He said that moral fatigue arises when freedom is remembered only as a memory, faith becomes devotion without courage, and peace is sought without justice. “When freedom is treated merely as a memory and not a duty, the spirit of Edsa slowly dies.” ||
