A barangay councilman was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman at Purok Puncian in Barangay Santa Rosa, Murcia, Negros Occidental on Monday (Jan. 26).
The 59-year-old victim, Joe Arnel Gawan, succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.
He was declared dead on arrival at the town medical facility, the police report said.
Initial investigation showed the victim had just disembarked from a Mitsubishi Highlander vehicle, when he was shot by the assailant, who fled towards the town proper.
The motive of the shooting has yet to be established, the police said. | GB
