The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Island Region said Dec. 21 that the series of operations conducted in the seaports and airport of Siquijor recently yielded no dangerous drugs, controlled precursors, or chemicals.
The intensified anti-illegal drug efforts, with the deployment of Narcotic Detection Dog “Blaze” at key transport hubs across Siquijor, was aimed at deterring the transport of illegal drugs and ensure the safety of commuters, the PDEA-NIR said.
The operations were conducted at the ports of Siquijor and Larena, and at Siquijor Airport in Brgy. Cang-alwang, which welcomed its first commercial flight Dec. 15.

The PDEA-NIR, through its Seaport/Airport Interdiction Unit (SIU), also deployed NDD “Mappy” during random K9 inspections and passenger profiling at key transport hubs in Negros Oriental.
The operations at the Dumaguete–Sibulan Airport, Dumaguete Port in Brgy. Looc, and at Sibulan Port in Brgy. Poblacion, Sibulan, all in Negros Oriental, yielded no dangerous drugs and other prohibited items.
The PDEA Reginal Office NIR remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the public through continuous and intensified interdiction operations across the Negros Island Region, it added. ||
