About 1,019 grams of suspected shabu, worth P6,929,200, were seized from a high-value individual in a buy-bust operation in Purok 5, Brgy. Jilocon, San Jose, Negros Oriental Saturday, the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region said Dec. 7.
Alias “Basim”, 33, male, single, and a resident of Brgy. Sta Agueda, Pamplona, Negros Oriental, was nabbed with three large and 25 medium-sized heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets, all containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, an S&W caliber .357 mm revolver without serial number, loaded with three caliber .38mm live ammunition, a motorcycle, and drug paraphernalia, among others.

“Basim” is in the custody of the San Jose Municipal Police Station (MPS) for proper legal disposition, the PRO-NIR said.
The operation was conducted by the PDEU/PIU NOrPPO, with the assistance of the San Jose Municipal Police Station, PDEA NOrPPO, and PDEG SOU NIR.
P/BGen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR regional director, commended the operating units for their precision and dedication, and stressed that the outcome of the operation reflects the region’s strengthened anti-drug efforts.
He also reaffirmed the police’s unwavering commitment to cut the supply chain of illegal drugs, and ensure safer, drug-free communities across the region.
The PRO-NIR, meanwhile, is urging the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious individuals or activities in their areas. “Community cooperation, combined with steadfast police action, remains a crucial force in the fight against illegal drugs.” ||
