A minor, who was an alleged victim of molestation, was found dead without clothes inside a sugarcane field in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on Tuesday, Sept. 30, as the suspect was arrested by the police on the same day.
A report of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said that acting on information from witnesses, policemen conducted a pursuit operation, leading to the arrest of alias “Wil”, who possessed evidences, including a bladed weapon.
The victim’s body was found in the area of Sitio Pinasagan, Barangay Linantuyan, where the suspect also resides.
As charges are being prepared against the suspect, the PRO-NIR strongly condemned the incident, stressing that violence against women and children is a grave offense that will never be tolerated.
In a statement, PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR director, assured the victim’s family and the public that the full force of the law will be applied to hold the perpetrator accountable. | GB
