A ride-hailing company is eyeing to expand its operations in Bacolod City.
Menard Umali, vice president for Business Development for Mobility of JoyRide superapp, in his letter to Mayor Greg Gasataya Sept. 15, said they are planning to open its motorcycle (MC) taxi and car services in Bacolod. “(These) are ride-hailing apps designed to connect passengers and legitimate drivers of MC taxi and TNVS car in your city, that will provide convenient and safe transportation.”
Umali said visitors and locals needing transport can conveniently book their trip using the company’s superapp to which drivers can accept, pickup, and drop-off booked passengers.
“Our platform can provide an additional source of income for transport drivers and operators, helping to enhance their quality of life and financial stability,” he said in the letter already endorsed to the Sangguniang Panlungsod Sept. 24.
“We aim to make commuting more efficient and effective for your constituents by offering reliable and convenient transportation options. We prioritize safety and provide safety training and orientation for our driver-partners, contributing to safer roads in your city,” Umali stressed.
The SP committees on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government; and on Transportation and Traffic, accepted the communication and are expected to come up with appropriate recommendations.
This homegrown mobility superapp was established in the Philippines in 2019, with headquarters in Rizal, and offering various mobility services. It is operating in Metro Manila, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Pampanga, and Naga-Legazpi, as per its website. | CGC
