Operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a police officer and his companion during a gun buy-bust in Barangay Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental on Wednesday.
The suspects were identified as Patrolman Genesis Daing Gimay, who is assigned at the Cebu City Police Office Mobile Force Company, and Nino Napoleon Colmenares Ligason, both 31, and residents of the same village.
A report of the CIDG Region Field Unit-Negros Island Region showed the arrest of the two suspects yielded a KG-9 automatic pistol with a magazine containing 10 ammunition, a caliber 9mm Gersan pistol issued by the PNP with a magazine containing five ammunition, a gun holster, and P22,900 in marked money.
Operatives also seized a silver Toyota Vios vehicle with plate number GBY 7507.
Both suspects are now locked up in jail for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. | GB
