The Victorias City government recently released the persons with disability (PWD) educational assistance to provide vital support to 260 students with special needs.
The payout of P1,500 each beneficiary at the Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Arts and Cultural Center Sept. 4 covered the months of June to August.
The initiative, carried out through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), reflects Victorias’ strong commitment to ensure that children with disabilities are given equal access to quality education, the city said in a press release.
It also goes beyond financial aid by addressing both academic and non-academic needs, fostering an inclusive learning environment where every learner has the opportunity to thrive, it added.
Anchored on Chapter 8, Section 32, paragraph (h) of Republic Act 9442, or the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons, the program upholds the right of PWDs to educational assistance as part of the government’s obligation to protect and promote their welfare.
The distribution, led by CSWD officer Joy Reunir, and designated PDAO focal person Arvie Brillantes, emphasized the program’s goal of empowering children with special needs to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to the community.
Through this initiative, the Victorias local government underscores its enduring dedication to inclusive education, ensuring that no learner is left behind.
Meanwhile, 404 beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program received medical, burial, and food aid at Barangay XIII covered court recently.
The assistance given to the beneficiaries was funded by Senator Erwin Tulfo, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office Region VI, and the CSWDO.
The payout was headed by Reunir, with the support of Mayor Abelardo Bantug III and other city officials. ||
