San Carlos fire hits 24 houses

Twenty-four houses were hit by fire in an informal settlers’ area in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Wednesday (Sept. 3), rendering 65 individuals homeless, the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) said in a report.

A total of 21 houses were destroyed while three others were damaged.

Initial investigation showed the fire originated from a stove that was left unattended.

Fire Officer 1 Rochel Ann Batayola said the damage was estimated at P306,250.

The affected individuals are temporarily staying at the covered court of Barangay 5 and are being assisted by the city government. | GB
