An estimated P12.8 million worth of smuggled cigarettes were seized by Maritime police operatives in Cauayan, Negros Occidental on Monday (May 19).
Two suspects identified only by their aliases “Jun Jun” and “Mar” were arrested by the authorities during the operation at the shoreline of Sitio Bagambang in Barangay Tiling.

In a report, the Bacolod City Maritime Police Station said they seized Dunston, Fort, Casablanca, and Champion cigarettes loaded in two panel vans worth P2.5 million.
For having smuggled cigarettes in their possession, the two suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
The operation was conducted by the Bacolod City Maritime Police Station headed by PCapt. Reynaldo Bauden Jr. in tandem with the personnel of the Bureau of Customs Region 6 and Intellectual Property Office in Manila. | GB
