The Cadiz City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Team (DRRMT) quickly mobilized its water tanker for a flushing operation following the May 13 Mount Kanlaon eruption, clearing ash and other debris along vital roads going to Barangay Yubo in La Carlota City.

“This is just a simple act, but it matters amid calamity,” Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. said. “We want Cadiz to always be of help in any emergency situation, or even in times of calamity, anywhere, because we want to help, we want to save lives.”

Escalante said seeing their DRRMT in the middle of action in the face of crisis is really heartwarming. “It tells more than a story, but a significant narrative of helping a community and saving lives.”

Aside from flushing operation, Cadiz’s DRRMT is also assisting on providing potable water to residents affected by the Kanlaon eruption by mobilizing the city’s water filtration truck, when needed. ||
