SM Supermalls will once again participate in the global Earth Hour movement by turning off non-essential lights in all its 87 malls across the Philippines tomorrow, March 22.
This initiative highlights the mall chain’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
At exactly 8:30 p.m. this Saturday, SM Supermalls will join millions around the world in switching off lights for one hour to raise awareness about climate change and the need for energy conservation.

Shoppers, meanwhile, can expect special Earth Hour-themed activities, some of which are eco-friendly fairs, sustainability workshops, and performances promoting environmental care, the mall management said in a press release.
The SM mall in Bacolod will have Saturday evening entertainment over dim lights as it prepares for the simultaneous switch off.
“Earth Hour is a meaningful opportunity for us to address climate change through this symbolic switch off,” May Castro, public relations manager of SM City Bacolod, said. “Through simple acts, like the turning off of lights, we aim to inspire collective action and environmental stewardship.”
SM Supermalls has been a long-time supporter of Earth Hour, integrating green initiatives, such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices into their operations.
By participating in Earth Hour 2025, the company reinforces its role as a champion for a greener future.
Mallgoers are encouraged to join the Earth Hour celebration and take part in activities that promote eco-conscious living. For more details, visit the official SM Supermalls website or follow its social media platforms, it added. ||
