2 men die in shooting incidents

Unidentified gunmen separately killed two men in the cities of La Carlota and Himamaylan in Negros Occidental on Thursday (Feb. 13), according to police reports.

A 32-year-old tricycle driver was gunned down by the assailant in front of his wife and child at Barangay 2 Poblacion in La Carlota City.

The victim, who succumbed to a wound in his left chest, was declared dead on arrival at the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital.

The gunman, who was armed with a caliber .45 pistol, fled, the report said.

Two assailants also shot a 28-year-old man in Barangay Mahalang, Himamaylan City.

Initial police investigation showed that one of them, who approached the victim and his mother, took his gun.

Without any reason, the man shot the victim thrice, before fleeing the crime scene.

The victim, who was hit in the back, was brought to the Governor Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital, where he was also declared dead on arrival.

The two shooting incidents are still being investigated by the police.  | GB
