Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) launched the CHMSUyanihan Operasyon Kanlaon (OK) Dec. 10 to aid communities affected by the recent Mt. Kanlaon eruption.

In partnership with the Caritas Bacolod Social Action Foundation Inc. and Art Relief Mobile Kitchen (ARMK), CHMSUyanihan booths have been stationed in all four campuses of the university – Alijis, Binalbagan, Fortune Towne, and Talisay – to receive cash and in-kind donations from students, faculty members, staff, alumni, and stakeholders.

The campaign is a collaboration between the Center for Internationalization and External Relations (CIER) and the Federation of CHMSU University Student Government.

The Carlos Hilado Memorial State University conducts a donation drive for communities affected by the Mt. Kanlaon eruption, and has stationed booths at its four campuses, including in Alijis, Bacolod City.

CIER director Rhoderick Samonte said CHMSU has again mobilized its volunteers for this campaign for cash and in-kind donations.

CHMSU urges donors to give drinking water in gallon containers, face masks (preferably N95), vitamins and over-the-counter medicines, non-perishable food items, and cash.

Donors may send cash donations directly to the Federation of CHMSU University Student Government GCash account at 0927-971-0303 or Caritas Bacolod Social Action Foundation Inc. Queenbank Account No. 002-02-00155-5, the school said in a press release.

“December is the month of thanksgiving, kindness, and fellowship. We call on all students, employees, alumni, partners, and stakeholders to join us in extending help to Negrosanons displaced and affected by the Mt. Kanlaon eruption,” Samonte said.

Federation president Dermelyn Irish Azucena said student-volunteers from the university student governments in all campuses have also begun their room-to-room campaign to encourage more cash donations and invite more volunteers.

The campaign eyes to turn over the in-kind donations as soon as possible, Samonte said, with the cash donations to be used to purchase ingredients for the ARMK pop-up kitchen to serve hot meals to evacuees.

The CHMSUyanihan OK donation drive will end on Dec. 20. ||
