Jackelyn Moraca, an alumna of the State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) in Sagay City, made history as the first topnotcher from the university’s College of Fisheries and Allied Sciences (CFAS) in the licensure examination for Fisheries Professionals.
Moraca landed in the 8th spot, with an 89.50 rating, the Professional Regulation Commission announced last night, Oct. 16, adding that 1,005 out of 1,509 examinees passed the licensure examination given early this week.
Isabela Therese Dedel of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University Binalbagan campus ranked 10th, with a rating of 89 percent. The first spot was secured by AJ March Ryanne Felongco from the University of the Philippines Visayas-Iloilo City, scoring 91.75 percent.
The SUNN, meanwhile, said that its CFAS is celebrating Moraca’s feat. “Jackelyn Moraca, a fresh graduate, has brought pride and honor to the institution by securing the Top 8 spot in the examination. This marks the first time in the university’s history that a CFAS graduate has achieved such a feat.”
Moraca’s journey to becoming a topnotcher is a testament to her dedication and perseverance. Her hard work culminated in an outstanding performance in the board exams, the SUNN said in a post.
“This victory is not only a personal triumph for Moraca but also a significant milestone for SUNN-CFAS. It highlights the quality of education and training provided by the college, and its commitment to producing competent and skilled fisheries professionals,” it added.
Dr. Abegail Gelantaga-an, college dean, also expressed immense pride in Moraca’s achievement. “Moraca’s exceptional achievement as SUNN-CFAS’ first topnotcher fills us with immense pride, her dedication and hard work have truly paid off.”
The PRC said registration for the issuance of professional identification card and certificate of registration will be done online, starting on Nov. 25, while the date and venue for the oathtaking ceremony will be announced later. | CGC
