Dumaguete City residents, who are beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, will receive P501 each day as salary, 4Ps Party-list Rep. John Clement Abalos II and Atty. Dio Remollo said.
The announcement was made during an orientation attended by about 877 TUPAD beneficiaries Sept. 27 with Abalos II and Remollo prior to the workers’ deployment to their assigned areas.
If they complete the 10-day work requirement, each TUPAD worker can get a maximum of P5,010, the city said.
Abalos also paid a courtesy call on Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, City Administrator Lilani Ramon, and assistant city administrator Dr. Dinno Depositario, and discussed updates on the development projects and programs being advocated by 4Ps Partylist and those of LGU-Dumaguete.
City Public Employment Service Office manager Ma. Socorro Mira, a representative of the Department of Labor and Employment, and former ex-officio city councilor Renz Macion also spoke during the orientation of the TUPAD workers about the program and their responsibilities as beneficiaries.
The Remollos thanked Abalos for his visit and support to the TUPAD program in Dumaguete City.
The mayor and Depositario also met with personnel of the City Health Office to discuss the initiatives and programs that will promote their welfare in a fair manner, and with consideration of the entire workforce of the LGU.
Dumaguete has improved its income classification, from a third class city to second class, due to its growing economy; this would mean adjustment in the salaries of all regular, casual, and job order employees in the city government.
Just recently, Dumaguete was also recognized as Top 2 Performing Local Government Unit for the 2023 Fully Immunized Child under the Big Population Category in Region 7, along with a Certificate of Recognition for its invaluable contribution in the implementation of the National Immunization Program and COVID-19 vaccination during the Central Visayas 2024 Regional Immunization Summit in Mandaue City.
Remollo recognized the invaluable contribution of the health workers, led by Dr. Maria Sarah Talla, in addressing public emergencies and in preventing the spread of diseases in the communities. ||
