More reshuffling of Commission on Elections (Comelec) personnel in Negros Occidental maybe expected before the 2025 midterm elections, Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said yesterday.

The initial reshuffling last week affected five election officers assigned in the cities of Bacolod, Bago, Kabankalan, Silay and Cadiz.

Ananoria said that some of the election officers may be transferred to other areas, if they have relatives who will be running in the local government unit where they are currently assigned.

A reshuffling may also happen if an election officer retires from the service.

Ananoria said that an election officer should be a lawyer, noting that he or she will sit as the chairperson of the local canvassing board.

The reshuffling is a means for an election officer to be assigned at an area where they are needed, he added. | GB
