The Police Regional Office-Region 6 got a boost in its firepower and mobility after receiving more high-powered firearms, patrol vehicle and rescue boat from the Philippine National Police national headquarters.

In a statement, the PRO-6 said it received 100 units of Galil automatic rifles with 3,600 rounds of ammunition, 700 pieces of magazines, and related gun accessories, a Toyota Hilux patrol vehicle, and a rescue boat complete with dive equipment.

PLt. Col. Arnel Solis, police regional spokesman, said that these are recently issued equipment by the PNP and also procured under the Congress Initiated Changes/Adjustments.

“This reflect the PRO-6’s commitment to equipping its units and personnel with the necessary tools to carry out their sworn duties effectively and efficiently to better serve the public,” he added.

Solis said that the ordnance are intended for the newly-activated Iloilo City Police Stations 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

He added that the newly turned over equipment provisions aim to enhance the operational capabilities of the recipient PNP unit, enabling them to better respond to peculiar situations and challenges their respective units are facing.

The Toyota Hilux double 4×2 patrol vehicle was issued to the Janiuay Municipal Police Station in Iloilo while the rescue boat was given by the PRO-6 to Antique Police Provincial Office. | GB
