A P47 million Bacolod Tree Eco Park will soon rise in an 8.7-hectare city property in Barangay Alangilan.
City Engineer Loben Ceballos said Jan. 15 that the Design and Build project, funded under the P4.4-billion loan of the local government unit with the Development Bank of the Philippines, will undergo bidding as soon as the specifications and other documents are completed.
Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Benitez visited the site, along with Ceballos, several councilors and other city officials, Jan. 14.
“Aton nakita ang potential sang ini nga green space, a promising recreational area for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike,” Benitez said in a post, adding that his administration “will work towards creating a beautiful and environmentally-conscious space for every Bacolodnon to enjoy.”
The project will have five phases, starting with the site development, construction of entrance gate and guardhouse, as well as a reception hall, picnic benches, sheds, and cottages.
The construction of a viewing deck, tree houses, and children’s playground, among others, will be in Phase 2, a function hall in Phase 3, a camping pavilion, ground walk and walk-in-the-air trails in Phase 4, and an APV and air soft pavilions as well as APV trail for the last phase. Site development will continue for the duration of the project.
Ceballos said the eco-park is expected to be operational in six months since there will be less structures and more of amenities. This is for the whole family to enjoy, he added. | CGC
